Jersey War Tunnels located in St Lawrence, and formerly known as the German Underground Hospital, provides a fascinating insight into Jersey’s Occupation. The tunnel complex, formerly known as Höhlgangsanlage 8, features a series of thought-provoking galleries that detail the German Occupation of Jersey during WWII. Audio guides available in English, French and German. All areas can be viewed easily from a wheelchair and the site is on one level.
Tip: Warm clothing is advised as the tunnels can get a little chilly.

The Maritime Museum, which is located almost opposite to Jersey Tourism, provides a great hands-on experience for young and old. It shares the building with the Occupation Tapestry Gallery – 12 panels depicting scenes of life during the occupation and commissioned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Island’s liberation on 9th May 1945.
The Museum is fully accessible by ramps, a lift to the second floor with Braille control buttons, and two stair lifts to upper levels. Disabled toilet facilities. An audio guide and Braille book is available for the tapestry. A loop system is located in certain areas of the Maritime Museum. A great venue for a wet day!

La Hougue Bie Museum and Neolithic Site: One of the ten oldest buildings in the world, built long before the Egyptian pyramids and aligned with the equinox. Enter into one of Europe’s finest passage graves and discover Jersey’s neolithic history at this tranquil and spiritual heritage site.

National Trust – 16 New Street, St Helier: Constructed in the 1730s, 16 New Street is undoubtedly the finest remaining Georgian town house in St Helier and, as such, presents a wonderful example of the elegant architectural style and fashions of 18th century Jersey.
Please note that wheelchair users will only be able to access the ground floor of the house.

Elizabeth Castle: This Castle was built on a tidal island off the coast of Saint Helier in the 16th and 17th centuries when the power of cannons meant that the existing stronghold at Mont Orgueil was insufficient to defend the Island and the port of St Helier was vulnerable to attack by ships. Elizabeth Castle has defended Jersey for more than 300 years. Sir Walter Raleigh lived in the castle when appointed Governor of Jersey from 1600 to 1603, and named it after Queen Elizabeth I.
You can take the amphibious Castle Ferry or walk out along the causeway at low tide. Experience history coming to life with live demonstrations and gunfire! Access to the exhibitions and Castle Mount is very limited. Wheelchair users should contact the castle kiosk located on the Esplanade to ensure that transport on the amphibious vehicle is available. There are disabled toilets in the parade ground.

Hamptonne Country Life Museum: Located in the heart of St. Lawrence, relax and unwind as you take in the sights and explore six centuries of Jersey’s traditional rural life in the rolling countryside. Dating back to the 15th century, the house and farm are brought to life with characters from the Island’s past. Explore the orchards and learn about bygone cra fts and quirky traditions from the resident Goodwyf.
A new playground has been built recently – bringing added excitement and enjoyment for younger visitors.

Gorey Village is a delightful area to enjoy a light lunch or afternoon tea with the magnificent Mont Orgueil Castle in the background. Sadly this castle is a bit of a challenge for those with limited mobility but one is able to get some excellent views by walking along the quayside.
